On Saturday October 26, 2019, the Rockets Hockey Club Bantam A White, Bantam A Black, U16 Girls team and members of their families volunteered at the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
In our 2 hour time block, the group labelled and packed over 3,000 cans of organic vegetarian chili. We successfully completed 3 full pallets which will be distributed to pantries, soup kitchens, mobile pantries, and feeding programs across New Jersey.
While having a blast listening to tunes and hanging out together, the players worked hard and learned valuable lessons in teamwork, problem solving, and communication which are all very important skills for our Ice Hockey Teams to develop on and off the ice.
Our time at the Food Bank was definitely a meaningful experience. It was a great way for our teams to understand that their hard work and charitable actions will make a difference in the community and have a great impact on families in need.
Special thanks to one of our wonderful Rockets moms Jodi Vander Veer for organizing this event for our Rockets teams.
